919 fuel gauge question

I had the tank off my '04 919 this winter to fix a dent in it. i have it all put back together already. and the little rod that sticks up into the tank that read the gas level is stuck right in the middle so i can see it when i open the tank. obviously it reads empty all the time. It's a little jammed but i can probably push it. So, again obviously, i'd like to fix it so my question is: Which side of the tank is it supposed to be on? I called the dealership, they didn't know. anyone else know? thanks -zach

When the tank is right side up the fuel sensor will be on the left side of tank ..

low fuel light is what I assume he is talking about. A gage would be nice though.
