Question 919, different oil filter now?

2003 919. The dealer says that the oil filter 15410-MCJ-000 has been superceded by 15410-MCJ-003.
Also -000 is now discontinued.
The two filters look slightly different tho, with -003 being about 3/4 of inch shorter than my stock, original filter.
Have you guys bumper into the same issue lately?
TIA

I just picked up 2 of the 15410-MCJ-000 at the dealer a couple of weeks ago, but these guys stock the things by the bizillion. Call a different dealer and see if you get the same answer. 3/4 of an inch is quite a bit; that filter is pretty short to start with.

The 15410-MCJ-000 & 15410-MCJ-003 should be the same black oil filter. NOT to be confused with the 15410-MM9-003 or 15410-MM9-013 which is used for the older models (pre 2000) and is slightly taller than the MCJ.

Honda uses 2 different suppliers for their Oil filters, hence, the difference between 000/003 on the MCJ and the 003/013 on the MM9, it doesn't have anything to do with being Discontinued or not, although, that is what they tell the dealers sometimes just so they don't have to explain the whole process

As long as you buy the one that says MCJ, you'll be ok.
