I've wanted to bob my rear end for a while, but after seeing the photo, I probably wouldn't go quite as short. It makes the tank look MASSIVE. Maybe a seat cowl would help even out the look.
It's interesting. It has potential.

Adding fuel to the potential fire. To "bob" simply means to cut off. So it is used appropriately in the literal sense. As to whether a bobber must be hard tailed or not... no idea.

Here's a bobber. https://www.wristtwisters.com/f2/a-we...ild-23737.html BTW, the appellation "bobber" used to refer to a hard tail that had practically everything removed from it, including the rear fender, and later to choppers without a sissy bar or other embellishments past the seat. It looked bobbed, ergo the name. It was later applied as a subclass of streetfighter that looks bobbed regardless of the configuration of the rear suspension, usually because the perpetrator, er, builder, ran out of money before completing the streetfighter build.

Rob

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

Bobber - Mrs Bobbitt - to cut ..........

Back to the 9er - seat needs a clean up and I'd have a pair of reverse cone megaphone mufflers sticking out the back - old school hot rod style.

I definitely dig it. I'd get rid of the seat, looks hideous. And I'd blacken that swingarm.

Robs is better.

The more I think of the OP one the more I wonder how it looks 3/4 on - as they have just pushed the original tail unit up and forwards there will be a fair bulge under the seat that was usually further back. You can see where it overlaps the side covers - I think side on it will look a bit crap.
Rob has actually given consideration to a 'proper' tail unit.

It was just a random picture. I don't know anyone who would run an exhaust like that one. Squid.

Holy Boberino. It there wasn't a hugger there, I'd be afraid of taking off too fast and wiping my ass with a rear tire.

I'm thinking the canister is removed to emphasize the bob job. Would probably look decent with a stubby CF. Otherwise that thing would sound like sh*t.
