919 Bellypan, any clearance issues?? in cornering, etc.

like the looks of the belly pan on the 919.. was curious if there is any issues with it rubbing pavement or bottoming out?? I put on on a Magna one time and would grind it ever once in a while in the twistes.. if this is case. dont want to put on on the 919.

probably a dumb question, but is a belly pan 100% cosmetic or are there any performance benefits?

I have been eyeing a belly pan i keep seeing on ebay. It's pretty cheap. Has anyone bought one of these? I am curious to know how it worked out for anyone who has tried it.

Does it really matter one way or the other with this bike?

I think that's the F-16 windscreen form National. I have the same one on my 'niner, and I like it. Easy install, good fit, and fair price.

Hummm, I was asking because it looked to be shorter than the F16? Could be the angle of the picture that is making it look that way? I want a screen but don't want one that is to tall.

The F-16 is on Python's bike. Rob's looks like the Honda OEM painted blk.

There's your plan and then there's God's plan.........

Rob's belly pan is an MBD, imported by Irfan at Wild Hair Accessories, www.whaccessories.com. Irfan has other pans available as well, including the one you see on Ebay. The MBD is by far the nicest/cleanest design available for the 919 (IMO). It follows the lines of the 919 perfectly. I had one but sold it before I mounted it. . .kinda wished I kept it. It took a month for Irfan to get one from Germany. ---When mounting a pan, I highly suggest putting on adhesive clear film to protect the paint. Non-OEM paint is less forgiving on the lower extremities on a bike, especially if its fiberglass.

Yep. It's the MBD pan from Wild Hair. I agree that it has the cleanest lines to compliment the 919. Looks like olskoolkool has the same one.

The windscreen is indeed the Honda OEM painted black on the backside.

Yes it is the MBD pan. I like it because like rob and 9nineteen I think it's the best looking for the 919. I wish I would have put some kinda protection on it though.

I have some pics under another thread "pics of the green machine" in the open bike discussion.

mine doesn't chip or rust, it cost $19 , and it is fully functional. though i opted to eat my engine's top end for lunch and keep the con rods in their original home, so i haven't actually "used" it yet. if the bike wasn't so dang low, it might not scrape when i'm not careful turning around at the "big end" of the track. but it is and it does.

Now that's Form Follows Function right there!

btw, some belly pans are indeed functional.

I believe XRCajun's Gimble Bellypan is an example. It's completely enclosed on the bottom, so that if for some reason, the engine were to blow (say at the track), the bellypan will catch the spewing oil so it doesn't splatter to the ground directly in front of the rear tire or be a hazard to other riders at the track.

The MBD bellypan is cosmetic.

Here's my photochop of the Pyramid "belly pan" I'm planing to install on my 9er (thanks to WT newbie member "flange", I copied his Pyramid from his photo) . Like most 919 belly pans available, this one is purely cosmetic. It doesn't catch one drop of fluid. In fact, the Pyramid is best described "lower side panels", since it exposes the header below.

Mine:

flange's:

XRcajun's

Rob919's

Ocool's

BAROSART's
