600 mile service

All,

I just hit the 600 mile mark on my 9er, so it needs its first service. What does this service consist of? Is it just an oil change, or is there more to it than that? Also, any problem with the warranty if I complete this service myself?

From the 919 service manual:

Oil - Replace
Oil Filter - Replace
* Engine Idle Speed - Inspect
Service Drive Chain
Brake System - Inspect
Clutch System - Inspect
* Nuts Bolts and Fasteners - Inspect
* Steering Head Bearings - Inspect

* Honda recommends service by auth dealership.

However, they cannot deny warranty coverage if you do the service yourself.

If you are mechanically inclined by all means do your own servicing. Just remember to save the sales receipts for the oil and oil filter. Additional items I would check are the screws that hold the bar ends. These have been known to vibrate loose, a good idea is to put a dab of blue Loctite #242 threadlocker on those suckers. The same can be said for the hex head bolt that holds the shift lever in place.

Thanks for the information. I will likely be servicing my bike on Saturday.

All I did was change oil and filter and just checked make sure every thing was tight. Didn't feel like giving dealer 200 bucks to change my oil and filter.
