599 windscreen fits 919 (with 919 windscreen brackets)

I dropped my bike in the back yard the other night (arrgh), busting a turn signal and cracking the Hondaline windshield that I'd painted a fetching flat black. Another wristtwister sent me a replacement turn signal (many thanks, jeffcycles!).

I looked everywhere for a stock windscreen replacement, but of course they're discontinued. I did order one from Ron Ayers, surprised that they had them...and they sent the wrong one (a 599 windscreen). I suppose the part numbers are awfully close, but I was bummed. The screens look awfully similar, though. So I pulled the cracked screen off, leaving the original 919 screen brackets on, and fitted the 599 screen on...and it fit! The rubber grommets are higher than the 919 screen, but still contact the gauges. Other than that, the screens have a very similar shape. A brief glance at both sets of mounting brackets makes them seem awfully similar, but the 599 brackets may or may not work on the 9'er--I'll give them a try at some point.

But if you damage your existing Hondaline 919 shield, in any case, the plastic from the 599 will work as a replacement. And it has no darn rose tint, either, just a very slight smoke hue.

No camera today, but will post photos when I can. Nice to have another option for windscreens.

Well that's valuable information, Gin might find the windscreen missing off her 599 next time she goes to the garage.

Hi Nemo,
Did you ever figure out if the hardware for the 599 fit also? I was just sent the 599 windscreen instead of the 919 windscreen from the dealer too! The difference with me is that it was wasn't for replacement so I have no original brackets off the 919. I just didn't want to start opening the wrapping on the packages in case it doesn't work, and then they won't let me return it.

Thanks,
Nadia

Alas, now the bike is in the shop, since I was hit this weekend. I'd say that the brackets probably would not fit, though, so you might want to send it back.

Oh no, I am sorry to read about your accident, glad you were wearing your gear and came away relatively unharmed!

I had a feeling it wouldn't fit with those brackets, so its back to where they came from i guess,
Thanks,
Nadia

So my question is, where do you find brackets for the 919?

In looking at the headlight mounts for both bikes I don't see what is different. placement of the holes? Angle of screen once installed? I'd give it a shot and see what happens. you can always sell it if it doesn't work or just get some of the 919 brackets and mount it up. we know it works that way!

this is the 599 screen pic I could find. I think this ones been discontinued also?

Looks identical to the 919 screen? I think its the wrong pic since it is a rose color.

Found it here http://www.rickroushaccessories.com/...oducts_id/4330

It was actually pretty difficult to locate one? I remember looking before and found all kinds of them for sale. Now it's almost impossible.

Here is the part number if anyone wants it! 08R80MBZ100

I think I'm going to order one

Worst comes to worst, I can sell it or fabricate some of my own brackets somehow
