if it is getting the cap off, i have rotate the cap clockwise to probably 3'o clock if 12 is straight forward. As far as removing it, i raise my tank higher than normal with a empty oil bottle wedged between the front of the tank and the triple tree (make sure the handle bars stay straight). I then just drop down the stock spark plug wrench and it sticks to it when i pull it out. Hope this helps, its a pain, thats for sure.
