2008 919?

Snagged this off the Hornet's Nest. MCN is reporting a 2008 919 with the 2008 Fireblade engine. Not sure what to make of the report. MCN has been known for BS 'scoops'.

That is the new CB600F Hornet (599 in the US).

And now for the new 900....

Along with a revamped CB600F Hornet, Honda is expected to dump the old CBR engine in the CB900F and bring out a heftier version of the CBF1000 engine for a brand new CB1000F Hornet. Styling will be more adventurous than the CBF hopefully. A CBF1000 engine means the latest generation Fireblade genes, but with much more than 100bhp this time. To bring it up to the level of the competition from Yamaha FZ1 and Kawasaki Z1000 it needs more than 130bhp. Our best guesses is a max power output of around the 140bhp mark. We also believe that the bike will get a very similar chassis to the CBR1000RR to really make an impact on the big nakeds market. Honda has got the CBF1000 for the sensible types so no problem to make the big Hornet both powerful and sporty.

That 900 is just an artists rendition, a bad piece of Photoshop.

Now that one in the magazine looks like the real deal, but it's a GOOD mock-up.

LOOKS BAD-ASS!!!
It won't be called a 919 thats for sure.

The Hornets seem to be distributed in Europe about a year before we see them state side. That gives you plenty of time to reload the penny jar.

It's ok, but would they bring it to the US? They seem to be hoggin the new 599.

I think the 06 919 is perfect. That's why they didn't even change it for 07. You can't get more perfect than perfect.

If I get anything new it is going to be a motard. I will keep the 919 for the
bi-posto stuff but I am tired of heavy bikes. I want to power slide city streets on my approach to the city hall stair jump.

I'll believe it when I actually see it. Honda rarely gives anyone a peek at their hand before they release all the new bikes, so I seriously doubt MCN has a real "scoop" on this. Like you said Ken, they're known for their BS. All the same, it makes one wonder...

I'll believe it when I'm down at the dealership signing the papers for mine. Otherwise it's just the same BS story with a pretty looking photoshop that we heard for 07 or 06.

If you look in the upper left corner of the screenshot, it says "Our digital impression of how the Hornet 1000 should look."

They admit it is a mockup and not any kind of exclusive scoop.
