XX Transformation

I'm not certain if this should go into the "Touring" section.?

I've decided to transform the XX into the uber-tourer. When I have time, I enjoy hitting the roads hard and riding long distances in quick time. I've sat on several sport-tourers and have not been impressed with the room and comfort. Most didn't fit right. Only the ST1300 was one that I would seriously consider buying. C14 ... just didn't feel right. FJR ... again, just didn't feel right. Just not ready for the comfort and drone of a Gold Wing.

I've never held my love for my "Zelda" a secret. It's time for an overhaul. TwistedThrottle has again become my best friend along with GMD.

The list begins:

- Seat to Spencer
- Forks reworked
- New rear
- General review and realignment of bike
- Givi Top Case rack
- Givi Top Case with back pad
- Frame sliders
- Bar risers
- Throttle Lock
- Slightly taller windscreen
- Addition of power plugs
- Peg lowering adapters
- Stebel horn

I still enjoy the stealth of the bike and will never change the exhaust.

LOL - I still run stock so I do not have to listen to it all the way down the highway!

Congrats on this decision. Although I was hoping your new Goldwing was gonna get parked in VB.

Maybe I'm getting smarter, older, whatever ...

I just can't justify a Gold Wing right now. Time to use to cost factor. I am trying to revamp are refresh the stock so there will be some new interesting things shortly.

As you know, I've been contemplating the XX thing for some time now. To me it's just a no brainer. Even if I got $4k for the XX ... I can't touch a decent sport-tourer for 3-4x's the price. I know everything about the XX. It's bullet proof, comfortable and has more than enough fun factor. Now with about $1.5k - $2k investment ... I'll have a smok'n sport-tourer that I can just hop on at anytime and have no concerns with!

About those Bar risers.... according to the guys on the VFR board who were comparing the Blackbird to VFR for some guy who was thinking of trading, the stock VFR Clip ons are like Heli Bars for the Blackbird. I'll go back on there and double check fitment, but I have a set of stock VFR Clip ons in the garage you could try if you're interested, if you dont like em just ship em back. PM me your address and I'll get em shipped out.

I vote for #2...........#1?

Seriously though, the XX would make a KILLER sport touring bike! You'll need to make a PA run and we'll go exploring.

just ..., thanks for the initial offer. I was thinking of going the VFR route or the Heli route, but decided to just throw on the spaces (risers) from SW Motech.

The same with the pegs. Instead of doing the Buell peg mod. There's a guy out in CO that fabs a drop down for the stock pegs. The bit of leg room is worth losing a bit of ground clearance.

I'm starting to disassemble late tonight on my return. Flush fluids, change oil, polish body work, etc. Tomorrow on my way back from Boston and picking up a few components from TwistedThrottle. Instead of dropping off the bike for suspension, I'm taking off the forks tonight and dropping them off.
