No, but I remembered what it felt like when I did ride naked.
I rode my 10R back from my privateer mechanic today after he checked the valves, put new plugs in her, added a new K&N (I know all the stories about the K&N adding no performance so save your breath), sync the throttle bodies.
All valves clearences are in spec, no more than .001 off. The bike has 17,500 miles on it. Now.......I get to put all the plastic crap back on. Anyone think I should just put some Speed Triple stuff on and call it a day?
He charged me 4 1/2 hrs labor. Just shy of 60 bucks parts (I had the plugs already) Total was $333.46. So he did all that stuff for less than those filthy crooks wanted to charge for four tire swaps on that other thread. If your ever in my neck of the woods and want to meet a cool and dedicated motorcycle enthusiast/mechanic/all around good guy, I'll take you over to meet Danny Whaller at Precision Motorcycle.
Today he had an old RD400 sitting out in front that needed TLC, plus a GSXR 600 in for a burned up main bearing, an R1 for a tune up, a TransAlp for a tune up, a dozen various off road bikes and ATV's plus wheels/tires/brakes for a vintage RC160 Honda Racer he had just laced up with stainless spokes.
I asked him to order heavy duty stainless spokes for my KLR650. The stock sheaattttt is corroding as I type. I know, I hear it through the closed garage door.
Dan also relayed a sad story indeed. He had just finished working on aq pristene RD350 LC that came in after the rider T-Boned a cage who pulled out in front of him. Dan said it was near impossible to find replacement parts.
I put my head in my hands and cried "Why, why O Lord must the good be taken????????????????????????"
Oh well, it's time to stop messing around and get my Black Vespa back together.
