30K Treatment

After getting the big girl back from the shop a week and a half ago, I finally got out into the capacious garage to finish her off:

She got:
valves checked
new valve cover gasket
compression check
new coolant
new plugs
oil and filter w/ Repsol
chain completely serviced, all sprocket jiz removed front and rear
tires checked
fasteners checked and tightened
all plastic cleaned and waxed
Armorall seat and bra
lube clutch cable

Problem was, my end of it took all day today. Well, the equipment has gotta be in top shape.

My back hurts...................................

when I would finish detailing the GS I'd take high resolution large pictures from every angle. Then pull them up on the computer and give a look. Always found crud & grunge I'd overlooked in person but readily saw on the photograph.

nice work Bigdaa!

My wife busted a piece of the plastic that I had on the ground when she was riding her exercycle. It's the little flap right behind the seat. Oh well. I'll price a new one.

30k on a 04, damn, I'm slacking, I'm only at 20k.

I wish I still had the passion to clean my bike like that still, but I just don't have the time or dedication like that anymore. Probabaly because I store my bike about 45mins from where I live.

I did install new spark plugs on friday tho

Buy my Pirelli supercorsa takeoffs. sizes 120/180

Thanks to all of you blokes for the compliments. I just get high when I'm near that bike. And I can't wait til she digs her nails into my back!

I had some issues. Seems that the FI light came on and speedo read zero mph no mater how fast I rode her. Back to the garage. After about 20 min, I isolated it to the speedo healer. Seems one of the dip switches was set to '1' when they all should have been '0'. Then, the freakin clutch cable routing was wrong. It took me one damn hour to route it correctly!

Then, during the ride, I checked the valve cover for leaks and there is one at each side........SHIIT! I'll have to take it back to Precision and complain that it ain't fixed. When I put the ZG screen on, I broke one of the ears off that had been glued previously. Put back on the original windscreen. It sure is low!

Well, the bike runs like a scalded cat. No problem there. Just feels great to be on her again after 2 weeks or so. Well, I just finished ordering about 78 bucks worth of repair and upkeep OEM's. She's worth it.

BTW, I saw a Carrera GT at the 76 station when I was filling up. When it took off, I heard the most beautiful exhaust note I have ever heard. What a beautiful sound and an unfathomable car.

Funny thing about the 04-05 zx10 is that they appear to be pretty rare. I hardly ever see one and many people regard it as the greatest superbike of all time.

ps...I am glad you took that windscreen off.

Hey motorwerks919, alot of people feel like that with that ZG screen I put on. However, it was pretty comfy and the fact that it was dark smoke didn't do anything to me cause I could never lay down far enough to try and see throudh it. Too fat or too tall or a combo of both I guess.

What do you think would have been a better color?
