WTB: Honda CX 500

So... this may be a stretch but I want a Honda CX 500... want to have a project to work on during the summer.. does anyone have one? Preferably near the Oklahoma area.

Thanks!

That's funny. My friend has one and is looking for a parts bike. He found one 300 miles away for $500. Looks like a road trip is in my future.

I built up and rode the heck out of a GL500 a few years back, great machines!

The CX500 is on my short list of "gotta build one" bikes. The transverse V-twin and shaft drive are sweet ..... its hard to believe such a ugly bike can have one of the most mechanically beautiful drive trains!

BTW I vote for a scrambler build! This one is my favorite.

I put tens of thousands of trouble free miles on it, it was awesome - especially for the price!

Comfortable, Lord, it was a bike you could ride all day.

And, hehehe, it caught more than a few VTX1300 and Harley's off guard - if you kept the rev's up, it could almost pull away from larger bikes, as long as you got the jump on them.

Sound - single crank pin, yeah, sounds good. The horizontal fishtails I had on there were too loud, I admit, but you know what, WHATEVER!

The CX/GL is one of the most under-rated bikes of those times.

The biggest problem I had was I never lubricated the rear suspension, so it was squeaky.

Which added to the fun, it was a ssssleeper.....

Sure wish I would of put a nitrous oxide bottle in that tail trunk....

First thing now is to change the bars out. Deciding between 33mm clip-ons or going with a clubman bar? Suggestions?

here's a local one that looks pretty interesting. I'm not so sure about the CBR1000RR front end.
Love those bikes, you got a great looking one in the back of that truck! Looking forward to a build thread..
