WTB GoPro Gear

I got a gopro hero 3+ off my friend, but he only had the camera, waterproof case, charger/battery. Doesn't even have the standard thumbscrew/base.

I might just buy a kit off amazon, but I thought I'd check with people here first.
Any mounts, memory cards, remote, etc that you'd like to part with let me know.

Would also appreciate tips on "essential" things to get.

Amazon has pretty good 'misc'. GoPro kits. Mounts and stickies, that sort of stuff.

The suction cup mount is pretty slick, it held up on my tank at 140mph+.

If you mount to your helmet, try and keep it as close to the helmet as you can, and without a lot of extensions. You'll get less wind interference and less shake that way.

I highly recommend getting a carry case for your go pro. I bought a pelican case 2 tier from REI. Works great. Waterproof, floats. You cut the foam to what ever gear you have.

Or buy a premade case for a go pro. Costs a lot more last time I checked.

I really like the Chesty mount. gives a pretty good view for rides. Somewhere I have some clips... Ill see if I can find them.

I originally bought the GoPro for ride videos, but I find I am using more for vacations, travel, time-lapses etc.

If you plan on using it in the water, buy the floaty. The camera sinks quick without it. Lens down.

When I first bought it I used it in the pool dropped it and got a funny video of it sinking quick

man might have to do the lcd back. the picture freezes on my phone when you start recording. then once you stop recording it loses the connection to the camera.. delete pics and it loses connection while it thinks.. is this how it's supposed to be working? picture quality reviewing pics also sucks. maybe it'd be better if i downloaded them though didn't do that yet.

I was actually out your way saturday. Did a group ride up 75 to rt 30, 522 to hancok. split off from there and went the wrong way on 522, once i could see sideling hill though i decided to go there because my friend on the back probably hadn't seen it before. Then we headed back east. It was a beautiful day. Love the views out that way.

Yeah man, we'll have to arrange a ride sometime. You ever get out my way I'll put you up and show you the area. Nothing too exciting but the area has good food figured out, and some good riding IMO.

Amazon is having some good sales on GoPro stuff right now, I just bought a floaty back door for just over $10...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=...keywords=gopro

Put in an 'alert' on Slickdeals.com for "GoPro" and you'll get an email/text whenever someone posts a 'slick' deal on GoPro stuff.

Comes in handy.

I did 40 from Frederick to Cumberland 2 weeks ago and I don't think I saw 5 cars on 40. Great colors too.

I would not strap my $400 camera to anything other than offical gopro gear. Just my 2 cents. Although I've seen plenty of videos where the camera takes a fall at 100mph and they come out fine

Yeah that is the big concern here. But just like you i read that the gopro products fail as well which is why people attach saftey straps and what not. Maybe some leads on a good deal for official gopro stuff would be nice, cant find much though..

i bought the cheap stuff. no issues so far but i haven't done anything to it. that would cause something to break.
If your housing is gopro official that's probably the best you'll get.. i mean if you wreck the bike that's the only thing that's going to save it i would think.

Right on. Ive settled on the cheap stuff for the outdoor, low risk stuff. But i think ill be getting official mounts for the motorcycling.
