WTB: Aftermarket 919 Rear Shock

Looking for a good deal on a stock rear shock replacement for my '04 919. I'll consider an OEM '07 (I've heard they are slightly better on the '07 than what I have, a stock '04), but would prefer an aftermarket one from Ohlins, WP, Wilburs, etc.

Can pay up to $600, depending on condition.

As far as I know, 04-07 are all the same, so unless yours is worn out, you don't want a stock shock.

Probably get flamed on but................you could buy a Hagon brand new for that much.

Is it a Ohlins or Penske?.............no but it's a huge improvement over stock and probably works for 90% of the riders out there.

Thought the 2007 was a 3rd generation and even better. Still not worth the money?

All the ones I checked were the same. Over many model years. My call is the valving changed a bit.

OP, talk to Jamie here. He custom builds them. Cheap to but by all accounts very good. Daugherty Motorsports - Motorcycle Suspension Performance and Modification

Your profile says you have an '02 for starters. Secondly, for $250 are you going to deliver, instal it and suck the buyers dick? Of course, you'll have to swallow as well.

3 posts... and already asking 3-6 times the normal price of a rear shock.

Get out.

Think I'll take the plunge for a new Ohlins (with a credit card, or course!) unless someone chimes in soon that they have a good condition aftermarket shock for sale.

The only way I would go with a stock shock (which I already have- '04) is if it's an '07, which some here say is marginally better.

I've got an '07 and I have to say that I was unimpressed with the shock - enough to take the plunge for Ohlins. I'd say that if you can afford it going straight to the best is a good way to go instead of dicking around with wasting money on something that might be a sliver better.

I absolutely love the way my bike feels with the Ohlins on it (though I'm having trouble dialing it in).

What's the issue? The HO201 is typically a set it and forget it kind of deal.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. For the money, it doesn't sound like I can do better that the Ohlins for $919 through Kyle Racing.

Just chiming in to say thanks for the rear shock info gents. That Ohlins sale puts it below the price of a Penske. If I can sell my truck, I'll hopefully have a new rear shock before Christmas.
