Huh? You can take the entire thing apart. I did. Back comes off, instrument cluster drops out, front cover is a separate piece. It's kind of a pain, but you can do it.

I painted the back cover on mine. And it's also how folks swap out the bulbs for colored LED's.

Looking at the second picture***

The piece that is scratched doesn't detach from the section to the left of it ( where the chrome ring trim is and glass) but does seperate from the back piece ( piece that is to the right of the scratched piece.

I sorta figured that was the case after looking at it closely...dunno what to do. Ive been hacking away at all the defects(cosmetic) on the bike, and this was something i meant to tackle when i did the bulk of my mods...it shouldnt bother me but it does. I may create a sort of "bra" or covering...not sure what material...to go over the scuffy sections instead.

Part # 13:

2007 Honda 919 CB900F Parts, 2007 Honda 919 CB900F OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com

Much cheaper to disassemble, sand, paint, and reassemble than to buy another.

If you want, you can even remove those chrome rings - just pry them off (they are only glued one with double sided sticky tape), if you want a total black look.

I did.

I recommend plasti_dip spray also. Its tough, looks like powder coating and if you mess up or don't want it on a separate part...just peel it off. Love that stuff...
