NO LONGER FOR SALE 919 Sato Mufflers--Gen I Titanium

Gen 1 Ti Satos. All hardware. One small, but noticeable ding in the left (chain side) can. I do not know the packing history. My Gen II's are louder & raspier but maybe they (my Gen IIs) are blown out since I never repacked them (but I like it). I have a video of bike running with these cans but chances I can get it to the interweb are small. $555 shipped.

I had a set of those on my 919 back in the day. They were LOUD! But sounded fabulous. Did I mention they were LOUD? My bike sounded like 2 loud motorcycles. Man,, I loved those things. I'm not a huge 919 fan, but it is one of the best sounding motorcycles ever.

Very nice. I've been looking around for a set of mufflers. These are a little rich for my blood, but I'm sure they are worth the price.

Those were seriously good cans, and still are.
When repacking next time, that ding could easily be worked out.
The pictures above indicate excellent condition.
They are said to be loud, so be ready for that.

To be fair, the pair that I bought, way back when, were used when I got them. So it is possible that the packing in mine was shot. The Super Duke has 23,000 miles on it. I took me of the FMFs apart the other day to check the packing, on that motorcycle, because it was so loud. But it was stuffed full, and still looked like new. Both the Sato's and the FMF's are glorified straight pipes. Loud is just what they are.

$550 is a bit rich, maybe. But when was the last time you saw a set for sale? Those were The Can to have, 10 years ago. I used to have my buddy do a "fly by" on my bike, while I stood along side of the road because it sounded so good.

I'm surprised these haven't sold yet. Never to be made again, rare as hens teeth. Well made, awesome sound. If I lived in the U.S. I would have gone for these.

Gen 2s had reduced bore size.

There may also have been a change in the core screen material, but I am not at all sure about that.
(My recollection of some very old posts suggested that to me.)

You are correct, the cones in the gen 2 were known to rust and disintegrate. Sato sold new core kits that consisted of replacement cones and packing. The center core piece were fine.

I got one of the last core kits with new cones from Sato a number of years ago. They had to hunt around their warehouse for it after a number of phone calls. Gen 1 hold higher resale prices as do gen 2 retrofitted with replacement cones.

I don't see this post; there is no line & no one is in it....Satos are still available for all.

Video of the actual cans for sale:
https://youtu.be/jv6OAnZnqgM

Since removed from bike, packed, boxed, & ready to go. Corbin in video is for sale too. Also have a PC III serial that was used with these cans.

There are also item specific maps for these cans.
I mean Gen 1 Satos, specifically.
There's a Dan Kyle map.
There's a final iteration amended map that LDH subsequently did.
I think DK's was a track oriented max power map.
LDH's was a refinement of that, to improve the street use of that map. If he sees this post, maybe he can chime in on all this.

Titanium is great for cans.
The skin temp runs cooler that stainless steel does, and unlike carbon fibre, won't get damaged by improper packing or packing that is shot from excessive use.

These cans deserve a good home.

No comparison in quality, the Satos are some of the nicest cans you can buy.

TBH, I thought the same thing, and bought a pair of Dan Motos. They've gotten good reviews here and on YouTube and they're half the cost even new. I'm sure the Satos are higher quality, but $500 is a ton of scratch for a bike that's probably worth 3 grand.

Second, just a friendly 2 cents, put a sales pitch in your post if you want to move them. Why are they awesome? Why should a cheap a$$ 919 owner part with half a grand for a used pair? Do they need to be re-packed? Require a PCIII or not? Etc etc.
