Hello,

For the month of August all proceeds from my PAIR plates sales will be donated to the cancer relief fund set up by WT member "frikjmaser" for his wife Vanessa. Erik is a solid 5 yr member and more information on his families situation can be found here. https://www.wristtwisters.com/f35/a-r...ime-31111.html

Lots of sets on hand ready to go. Black and Alloy still available.

Cheers,
Ian MacDonald

Awesome idea. Was planning to buy some anyway for when I inspect valve clearance soon. Even better now. Sending PM

Since it goes to a good cause and I love the look, I just as well add these to the rebuild list. Sending PM.

Well....

I hurt my back at work a few weeks ago. My L5 vertebrae is messed up, causing really bad nerve pain in my back and legs.

I am currently off work on disability, so any $$$ i can make off the plates helps big time.

Been there, done that, had the surgery, got the t-shirt.

I had a ruptured L-5 disk which caused pain in the back of my left leg after walking for about 1/4 mile and it wouldn't go away until I sat down for about 10 minutes. I think surgery was my only option and it worked. It's been 15 years and no more problems. Hopefully yours can be fixed with rest/ physical therapy.

Thanks guys!

I originally hurt it 5yrs ago in a hockey tournament. I was off work after, but went back to early and have been dealing with it since. They talked of surgery back then, and are back on the topic this time.

Wow... obvious fail at sarcasm/humor on my part!

Sorry to hear that Heli. That kind of stuff is no fun. Keep us posted with how you decide to go about it and let us know if we can help in any way!

The video was instructive, Thanks but I haven't found the benefit of removing the valves at all.

Have you or will you at some point move to a more free-flowing exhaust? Either with slip-ons or 900rr conversion?

If so, this removes popping on deceleration with that type of exhaust. YMMV, but on my bike, completely. I can ride WOT and drop my throttle hand completely and I get NO popping, any temperature, any elevation (all that I've been in so far).

Some like the popping, though. I, for one, care more for a smooth deceleration exhaust sound.

And you do save a little space under the tank/frame for extra electronics like HID kits, etc. Plus shave a pound or so off the bike. Not that it's really that important on a bike like the 919, but the point is still valid.

1:20 in my video, I talked about it.

I was completely wrong about the power gains I stated in the video, though, there are absolutely none with this mod.

Pretty much sums it up...

- stops popping on declaration
- cleans up valve cover, giving more space plug changes etc.
- required for dyno tuning. The PAIR system messes with the air-fuel readings on wide band O2 sensors.

Thanks,
Ian

PAIR mod

Great info guys. Really starting to love this site - learned a ton about my 9er in two weeks that would have probably taken months, or years, if ever otherwise. I'm not a fan of the decel pop and plan to do the mod if for no other reason than that. Already did the flapper mod but haven't noticed any changes, good or bad. Might reconnect the hose now that I'm more used to the sound and feel of the bike to see if there is any difference. Thanks for all the great info and feedback.

Still wondering about the "rev limiter" (9500rpm in 6th gear?). Does my '07 have one?

oh yeah! Just like Marylandmike said. Use 1st gear and you'll bounce off it it no problem! 2nd gear is also just as easily doable but you'll be committing several felonies easily if not more. I've hit the rev limiter in every gear except for 6th. Ran out of the front straight stretch at PIR at 136 mph+ actual speed and 9500+ rpms before I could get past redline.

@HeliMech. I sold my 9er and I've got a set of PAIRS plates I never got around to selling. Do you care if I throw them up on the for sale board here?
