FS: Danmoto GP Exhaust - Titanium - $140
I'm looking to sell my Danmoto Titanium GP Exhaust for $140 + however much shipping costs. Transactions will be best with Venmo or something similar.
I bought it since I wanted an easy project during quarantine, and also for the quick weight savings an upgrade like this offers.
Ultimately, it doesn't quite work for me and I'm looking to sell or trade for a Delkevic 14"-18" system (w/ baffles). Read on for a quick review and details.
I will include the mounting spacers, extra nuts, aftermarket baffle, and replacement screws for the exhaust clamps. I've ridden less than 20 miles with this exhaust.
Danmoto Exhaust Review:
I ordered it from the Danmoto website and it arrived within 3 days! Impressively quick during these times. Upon installation, I noticed my kit was missing a mounting bracket+screw (dogbone) for attaching the actual cannister/band to the frame of the bike. I also twisted and snapped the screw of one of the clamps, rendering the entire exhaust clamp useless. With a quick email, Danmoto customer service sent the parts out immediately and I received it the next week.
Mounting (with all the parts) was straightforward, but mounting to the frame required some rigging and a few visits to the hardware store. First replacing the clamp screws (m6 thread I believe), and obtaining nuts and nylon (vibration dampening) spacers for mounting to the frame. You'll see in the pictures what I did to make it fit perfectly.
Started the bike up... and it was deafeningly loud. It doesn't sound bad, but in the densely populated city I live, I'm not looking to be 'that guy' either. I took it for a spin, and I felt the lack of back-pressure also reduced some 'pull'. I was embarrassed by how loud it was, rode home, and immediately jumped onto Amazon for a baffle.
I purchased a 51mm baffle from Amazon that looked to be the best manufactured and not too costly.
Upon installation, there was a definitive rattle, so I purchased some Permatex exhaust sealant, applied liberally to the baffle edges, and reassembled the exhaust. Problem solved. The back-pressure issue was fixed and the exhaust's loud "bite" is now lessened, and the low rumble during idle and loud screams during acceleration are present. But... still too loud for my liking.
Ultimately, the Danmoto system did what I was looking for but simply not for me and my current living situation. I read somewhere the stock exhaust system weighs approx 17 lbs. I think the Danmoto system + baffles weighs maybe around 8-9lbs (?), which is surprisingly noticeable mounted up high under the tail.
In conclusion, an incredible value, decent build quality, good customer service, and excellent weight savings. Just be aware of the major volume increase.
