WTB: SP1 6-spoke RC51 front wheel

Looking for a 6-spoke RC51 front wheel. Some scratches are ok, but it should be straight and in good condition. I do not need the rotors.

Are you doing the RC51 conversion on your new toy?

I will HOPEFULLY be doing the RC51 conversion, if I can ever find the rest of the parts I need... I have some of the parts, but I've been looking for months for the front wheel and 929RR lower triple. So far no luck; I may need to start looking to see if there are any salvage yards in the area.

That front wheel is hard to find.
I used to have several sets of RC wheels. People wanted the fronts and I could see I was going to get stuck with the rears, so i sold them in sets only.

Good luck.

I might have a 929/954 lower tree, let me rummage through stuff in storage and I'll get back to you.
You can use a 929/954 front wheel if you swap the bearings and spacers to the RC51 stuff too if you want to keep the three spoke to match the rear.

I have an RC-51 SP2 wheel on the front of mine... even better. 5 spoke, it's 1.1 lb lighter.

Thanks Dan,
I have a 954 front wheel with the RC51 bearings and spacers, but decided I want the 6 spoke look instead of 3 spokes. I already have the 900RR 6-spoke rear wheel.
Is there any difference between the 929 and 954 lower tree? The 929 lower tree was recommended for this project because it's flat and will be easier to have the holes drilled for the 919 headlight bracket.

I really wish I preferred the 5 spoke design, those seem to be readily available on ebay. I was out of town a month or so back when an auction for a 6-spoke wheel ended and I missed bidding on it. I've been kicking myself ever since...

As far as I can figure out the 929 and 954 were exactly the same except the 954 used the SP2 style damping and preload adjusters on the legs.

I'll keep an eye out for one on PDX Craigslist. Slim chance, but it might show up.

PM Sent. I think I know a guy with one and he is local here to us.

I have a spare 6 spoke rear if anyone wants it. I'll sell it on the cheap.

You had recommended the 929, and I've never seen the 929 & 954 next to each other to compare. Since I now know they're exactly the same, it may cut down the time I spend looking (hopefully!)

I've checked the price of a new wheel and almost passed out! I'm still kicking myself for missing the end of that ebay auction a while back, the auction ended at about 1/3 the price you'd pay at the dealer... my search continues.

Take a look at the Speedzilla board, I picked up a few pieces from some of the people over there.

I found a front wheel and it was delivered yesterday! Thanks everyone for your help, especially 9nineteen for finding the wheel for me!
Now I need to get the wheels off to powdercoating...
The project continues!
