WTB: 900rr Header

I am looking to buy a 900rr header for my 919. I don't have the money for a NOS one and I figured I may help someone clean out their garage. Anyone that has one in good shape and is interested in selling post here or send me a PM.

Mike

eBay

eBay is your best bet. A lot of people looking for these and most on eBay are pretty used, meaning beat up bad. And they want an arm and leg for them. Good luck.

Yeah that is where I have been looking. All of them are exactly as you described, beat up and over priced. I've noticed most say they came of 2,000 mile bikes. That must have been a rough 2,000 miles.

Doesn't look too bad. Sand blast and ceramic coat it, it wouldn't look too bad.

Just look for punctures, mine has tiny one in it, but they looked similar to that before blasting and coating.

IMO I would buy that one. The key is free shipping. Those things cost about $40 for UPS ground shipping. Looks to be in good shape and they clean up really good.

Here's a before after of mine:

here are some before and after on mine. I picked mine up for $85 free shipping; I consider that a deal as well.

Note, those are bolt on, not slip on like the headers I picked up. So be wise in choosing your exhaust can, either bolt on for an easy fit, or slip on and cut the bolt flange off on the mid-pipe.

It'll probably be a while, I have to decide on what kind of can I will run first if my SS 2 Bros doesn't work for the time being.
And I think I will really need to clean that baby up to, I haven't decided if I will ceramic coat it, use high temp paint, or just clean it and let it be.

FYI, diameter of that pipe (if you decide to cut off the flange) is 61mm.

My GP Scorpion exhaust has an external diameter of 63mm, so just enough to slip on and pinch down.

Are you selling yours for really cheap? You did get a GREAT deal on that Ohlins.

Kidding aside, your Scorpion was originally designed for a zx10r correct?

I can't remember if it was for a ZX10R or a SV650. I just knew I needed one with a 63mm inlet!!! I figured out how to mount it after I got it.

Oh, and it had to look all cool and stuff, too!

After you do the switch, feel free to send me your old pipes and shields! Finders fee right!? Glad I could help. For $75, I almost bought it, but I'm not yet interested in doing the conversion. We WILL want pics. so get a move on!

I had actually been on ebay almost everyday looking at headers, I had seen these but just didn't jump on it. I think I was just a little uneasy at buying something not in new or mint condition, the encouragement of WT caused me to jump on it yesterday.

Cost me $150 at a local guy's shop that also did powdercoating. That was bead blasted inside and outside first, and then coated inside and outside. He did a VERY good job.

Be warned that you might have to sand down the joints afterwards. I was unable to slip the mid-pipe back on without first sanding the inside and outside of the joint.
