Anyway, have you taken the shield to a lab and determined that the optical quality meets or exceeds Honda spec? Because you know, there's a spec for a reason. Gotta keep the aberrations below the maximum allowable.
Also have the lab shine monochromatic light through the shield between polarizing filters (be sure to use a spatial filter upstream). Otherwise you can't know if there are residual stresses in the shield.
Might want to do a micro-laser ablation with the shield under vacuum, and pass the resulting evolved species through a combination gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer. That way, we'll know for certain that the base polymer has the correct chemistry.
