The unfortunate truth is that mods don't really add value to the selling price of a bike, which is why many choose to put it back stock and sell the mods separately to try and recoup at least part of their investment.

i put mine back to stock when i traded it..... i had a 07 with 9455 miles on it...

the book was 4400... i got 5000 trade in towards my vfr...

but i also used to work there and the sales manager is a very close friend...

my answer... take as much as you can get... you CAN sell it for that much... but you need a customer with desire..

And trust me, as a guy that buys and sells a lot of vehicles....it's extremely hard to sell anything for top dollar right now in this economy, no matter how nice it is.
