Red 1998 VFR-17k miles, clean-$3900

1998 Honda VFR, 5th Generation (one of the most desirable versions of the VFR), 17,0xx miles (and climbing, as I keep riding it). Mainly touring miles; also used for local twisties and a couple of novice trackdays. Bike has a couple of scratches (no cracks) on the right side from a standstill drop at a stop sign—quite minor, as you’ll see. Kept garaged and covered when I'm not traveling on it.

Asking $3900, test rides with valid M1 and cash in hand only. Trades for Alaska-ready dual-sports (KLR 650, etc.) also considered.

Clean, low mileage, runs beautifully. Have all service records, registration is current through February 2011; Metzler Z6 tires with approx. 1/2 life left. Enjoy the single-sided swingarm, the smooth ride, and the sound of the gear-driven cams! I’ve ridden everything from local goat trails to back roads in Montana on this bike, and enjoyed its versatility, quality and reliability.

A new battery was installed in April ‘09, and a “VFRness” has been installed to avoid the regulator/rectifier problems the 5th Generation VFR can suffer from. Valve check, spark plug replacement, and fork oil (15w) done in Oct. ‘09 by Elskipador; I installed a DID VM 530 Gold Chain and sprockets last fall, and did a full brake/clutch system bleed, as well as replacing the coolant. New front brake pads as soon as I can install them.

Extras:
  • Yoshimura RS3 Exhaust (stock exhaust also included)
  • Helibars
  • Solo seat cowl, grab bars
  • Stock, sport-touring, and tall touring windshields
  • Updated better-looking 2001 mirrors
  • Ventura luggage rack system—grab bar, short and tall racks included
  • K&N air filter
  • Spare used taillight
  • Original manual and toolkit
  • CD copy of Honda Service Manual

I had a 2000 that I still regret selling. Definitely fine machines. The sound of the gear driven cam is icing on the cake.

NEED MONEY! If I had money, I'd have a this one. Looks great. I lowered my 919 to a more reasonable price, I think.

Nemo, I don't need another bike in the stable, but if you want a ready KLR ... let me know. It has new D606's on it now and ready to go.
