**FOUND**WTB ALU-RACK

Like the title says, I'm looking for an ALU-RACK. My lady friend just picked up a new bike and we are looking at taking some longer road trips. The ALU-RACK with quick release top case seems like the cleanest way to go.

Figured it's a long shot, but maybe someone has an ALU-RACK laying around.

If you've got an ALU-RACK attached to your bike and looking to make some extra cash, but don't want holes in your rear cowl, I've got a stocker grab rail and even some of Ideajones's hole covers to sweeten the deal.

They can be tough to come by. I waited a year before a used one came up and SW-Motech/Twisted Throttle was out of stock. If you are going with a GIVI top case, make sure you get the correct mounting plate adapter(Monokey vs. Monolock).

The rack is very clean in its design and function. A great piece of hardware.

Slight derail: so which is the correct mounting adapter to get for a Givi topcase? The Monokey?

And what are the advantages of the Monolock? what types of cases do they fit?

And yes, they are hard to come by, I picked one up on here a few months ago, but it was only the second I had seen in a few years.

Yeah... I figured it was worth a try. Was hoping someone had one sitting someplace collecting dust and wanted to make some quick cash.

My understanding is that there are 2 different types of GIVI top cases, Monolock and Monokey... You just need to make sure you get the correct adapter for your case.

No idea the difference... figure the first step would be to get the ALU-RACK.

What size case works well with the 919. Obviously, the bigger the better, but I don't want to make the ride unenjoyable because the case is too large.

Monokey vs. Monolock:

Cases - Motorcycle Top Case

I think you will find a difference in build quality as well. The small Monolock top cases are little less rugged than the Monokey counterparts IMO.

There are many different sizes and configurations that are adaptable to the 919. Do you want color matched or pebble grain, form vs. function, will you add side cases later, how many liters, etc?

I have three E36 Monokey cases (sides & top) with two E45's in addition for more capacity if needed. They can be mixed and matched according to my needs. Color matched is really nice for a top case, but if the bike topples over, you run the risk of damage with too large a case(like E55).

If you add side bags, remember that they are keyed in pairs when purchased and the top case will be a different key. Givi makes lock cylinder sets to get them all keyed the same at an additional fee. I have five bags and bought a 5 cylinder set.

I have the alu rack on the '06 with just one E36/E45. I have the Givi 3 case set up on the '03 for touring.

Check different sites for pricing/shipping details.
