Dude I'll help you find one. I can't get on CL till I get home tonight from work but dont worry we can get you one NP. If I find one down in COS or P-Town and you want me to check it out let me know.

Seems like alot of people in CO like to sell bikes out from under people. The first 919 I looked out the guy (from Thorton) sold it out from under me. It was a silver 03 which is okay cause now I got my 07 from a divorce in Castle Rock. Then I was going to get a 86 VFR700 and the guy sold it out from under me. I was so pissed.

Yeah apparently me stating I'm going to buy it and can you hold it for me (for less than 24 hrs mind you) means nothing to craigslist sellers. What I don't get is he sold it for less to the other buyer? WTF is wrong with people...

cant say i quite blame him. you gotta look at the other side of the coin: far too many people are flakes and rude lowballers that i deal LITTLE with craigslist when i try to sell something. i just want it sold and gone, the quicker, the less i have to deal with idiots or assholes that say they want it and dont show up or show up with 1/5th of what you're asking.

True. I have dealt with my fair share that is for sure. However I was pretty adamant about buying it. Even offering him cash to hold it for me (which he promptly declined). Meh whatever I guess it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully I can find one shortly. Trying to get some good riding in here before summer hits(want to be a bit more experienced at riding so I can daily my motorcycle during the summer commute).

One way to keep people from selling it out from under you and/or proving you're serious is to offer a deposit via Paypal as a placeholder until you can get there. I've had good luck with that, myself.

Folks using CL are flakes (well, except for us). I wouldn't Paypal a $1 to anyone using CL. I had a guy show up to buy offroad truck tires - only asking $100 for the set of 4. He shows up and lowballs me with $50. At the same time, another guy calls and shows up 10 minutes later, while the first guy is still thinking it over. 2nd guy gives me $100 and we load up the tires in his pick-up. 1st guy is like "what the hell". And I said - "he paid what I was asking b/c he wanted them more - sorry. Bye."
But this is the off season, so I can't imagine phones are ringing off the hook with offers to buy motorcycles. He probably sold it to a buddy. I check CL and see a 9'ner at least once a month. There were 3 in January in the Denver area.
Good luck.

2006 Red 919 - out the dealer door with 32 miles in June 2007.
Daily commuter - weather permitting.
Minor cosmetic mods except for 520 chain.

Yeah with the 919 right after I rode it I gave the lady $500 and said I'll be back on Sat to pick it up. I asked her for the keys so she couldn't sell it out from under me or disapear with my $500. That Sat it snowed so I drove up with the cash and got the all the paper work and licence plate and came back up monday, after I went to the DMV and officaly made it mine, and rode it home.

Hey, use FreeCraigslistReader. You can download it and install it on your machine and it will search whichever CL regions you specifiy (I do the surrounding 4 states, myself).

It will pull the ads and let you search them and click on them to see pics, etc. Comes in handy!

Also throw a wanted ad on craigslist. I've had good results with that.

No bikes just go for more out here. And that 06 is at a dealership so they will want more than private party.

If you want good deals on Craigslist, it's best to have cash in your pocket and get there before anyone else.

+1 on searchtempest.com. For 3 months I tracked every 06 & 07 listed in the US and called the ads that were pulled to ask what the bike actually sold for. When my old bike sold, which was a domestic requisite for getting another one, I was armed to the teeth with fresh actual market trend. Then I got on the phone and worked my list based on model, mileage and proximity until I found a seller receptive enough. I hooked up the trailer and left at the butt crack of dawn the next morning with cash in hand, made the 5hr drive and made the deal - 2006 in mint condition with 8k on the clock $3300.

I've been buying cars this way on craigslist too.

awesome.... i could of gotten a 919 for cheaper than what i paid for ($3150), but i insisted on having an 02 with low mileage, no other year would do for me. it HAD to be an 02. it just so happened that the 919 i bought had some tasteful mods done plus a rare corbin gunfighter seat...

Are you saying prices of motorcycles will go up because of gas prices? If gas hits over 5 bucks a gallon ( i can't imagine what diesel would be then) we will all be screwed!

Still searching...

Be patient and wait for the right 919. I bought the '06 with 17K on the clock from a party on ADVrider in Tennessee. Took a truck down to pick it up in December of '09: $3,800.00 with a host of aftermarket parts & accessories.

Still searching. Test rode one that had 45k, not a bad bike but the tires need to be replaced and the owner would not budge on the price.

I did not see that, thanks for the heads up! If you don't mind going and testing it out for me I would really appreciate it! Let me know how bad the damage is. Looks it has some slight cosmetic damage - tank is dinged, cover scratched.
