That does blow but at the same time, I've been in those situations. Chrysler isn't doing much better right now either but I still have work everyday. Just not enough of it

The good thing is, I can pay off what little debt I have....

This will leave us with just 1 car payment, small martgage, and usual household utilities....

We can live just fine on unemployment if it came to that......

If my dealership survives the GM downsizing, we should come out stronger.... the dealer and me financially...

Do NOT SELL THE GOAT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES !!!

We will run a save the Goat campaign if necessary.

You're making the smart moves early enough, this too shall pass.

The GTO will NEVER leave...... trust me on that one.

The silver lining..... by doing this, I am in a good position to relax now, and just wait and see what life brings me....

..... and hey..... I get to shop for my next bike!!!!

Yeah, anyone attached to the Auto Industry...... regardless of make, Domestic or Import......... these are BAD times.

I have been in the business now for 23 years.......... getting near that .... Old timer status

I have been in Sales..... including F&I and also General Sales Manager

Been in Service.....

Currently ..... relaxing as a Service Writer in a small GM dealer.

We tend to run out of work around 3pm each day..... not too bad as other dealers around us...... who run out by lunch or before.

GM will be sending out a " Letter" to dealer owners within the next 30 days, letting them know, if they are pulling their franchise or not....

We are a Buick/Pontiac/GMC dealer..... so losing Pontiac sucks....

Now we just wait and see if GM wants us as one of the 60% remaining GM stores...

I have confidence in my dealer. I'm in service and been at this dealer going on 6 years. Master Certified with Chrysler.

Our days are hit and miss. Typically we are running thin on work in the afternoon as well.

My hours are definitely down each and every pay period but still haginin in there.

If I had a more go getter Service Advisor, We would be busier but it is what it is. Funny thing is, My advisor used to be a tech but never turned wrenches as a dealer tech...I think he forgets what it's like to be paid "flat rate" cause he can't stand to be very busy...He gets flustered My thoughts, get over it, either handle it or step aside and let someone else in there that can and will handle being busy

Just a question, why get rid of the pontiac line instead of Buick?
I would think the pontiac line would be selling better.

It truly saddens me to hear this Troy......but I know you are only doing what is best for you and your family. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that everything works out in your favor when it comes time for the GM restructuring.

Hey bud, you know you don't live that far away so if you ever get the bug to ride you can always come over and twist my arm for a bike to ride

LOL..... be careful young man....

Some wouldnt consider that a downgrade.

Seriously though..... a cruiser actually fits my riding style better, but I dont want give up on good handling and brakes.

Might look at a Warrior or something in that class.

....also might look at a Triumph Speedmaster...

I was just giving you a hard time. I almost put up the little wheelchair smilie but decided to delete it. I do truly feel for you having to sell something you really enjoy. My wife holds my bike over my head any time there is the slightest variance in our finances. I HATE that! I don't hold her new Envoy to her even though she really wanted it and we owe about 3 times as much on it as my bike.

oooo...get a magna!! they are some prety inexpensive bikes with a good bit of giddy up if you put a lil time in them to make sure they are all good to go!

30,000 mile 919 survivor. No plans of stopping the abuse any time soon.

I had a 95 Magna for a few months..... loved the look, but the brakes really sucked....

Sorry to see your 9'er go away, there will be more bikes down the road though. Best of luck in weathering the situation, will always be some dealership job out there if you want to stay in the business.

I left the dealership world almost 10 years ago, guess my timing was pretty good to go a different direction in the transportation industry but I still enjoy the car business.
