1981 Honda Silverwing GL500

We went to see my wifes uncle over the weekend and I found this hiding in his barn. A very clean 1981 Honda Silverwing GL500 with 22,607 original miles. Comes with the side cases and passenger seat with backrest (not pictured). Clear title, never been wrecked. All it needs is a new battery. He is an older gentleman in ill health and can't ride anymore. He is asking $2,000 firm. I thought I would list it here before putting it on craigs. The bike is located in Canton, Texas. PM me if iterested.

Arhhhh, a bit of warm vomit came up the back of my throat!

WTF is wrong with Honda America doing that to a CX500!

Mind you it looks a clean example and a cheap base for a CX cafe-racer project .....

It's a classic, Allan. And it's in ubber tits condition.

Sorry to hear about your Uncle's ill health. He obviously cherished that gentle little scootabout.

I wish him the best.

Nice. Yeah it is definitely a classic. I got 2 in the garage now or else I'd consider it. It would be a short drive to pick it up.

Might try posting on twtex.com too.

It's pretty nice and as Alan stated it would be a nice start for a CX500 Cafe project. But $2K....... somthing to mull over......Sorry about your uncle. Very nice bike!

$2000.00 is a bargain if it is as good as the pictures look.

Great machines, if I could, I would......

Here is a pic of my last one....

A original CX500 is a classic. That's what they turned into ..............

Still, a nice clean example of what they turned into.

I have a friend with a 500 silverwing bagger. Then reverse mounted engine is just cool. Keeps even airflow over both cylinders. 2 grand is a little steep, and parts can't be easy to come by.
I have an 86 Honda 750vt and I really hope nothing breaks because parts just aren't available for it. Add to it that the canadian and American markets got 2 different versions of it,means I have less to choose from.
But it's a Honda,should run a few hundred thousand miles,shouldn't it
