Why does Amazon come up when I try going to the WT site?

Every time I come here, I end up with a large Amazon advertisement that I can't get rid of?

Is anyone else getting that?

Glad it wasn't just me. I get they need to make money, but I didn't even see a way to get past it. I guess it's hard to make a speciality forum work, you don't have much growth and there's all kinds of other things vying for your attention.

Pestering you to buy stuff you don't want/need seems to be the "new normal" on the internet. It's not just on this site but on practically every place you go. There does not seem to be any fix for it. Same with the endless robo calls that come day and night even though we signed up for the "do not call" list. That list means nothing to the sales pushers and nobody seems able to do anything about it.

I always thought it was scary that the US Government expects us to trust them to defend us, yet they can't seem to stop robo calls.

I get the ads all over the place, but just today I think it changed. I come here and the site says "www.wristtwisters.com" but I'm locked into some Amazon screen that I can't get out of. WTF?

I've been running a blocker for a long time, something's changed. It didn't do this before.

I'm running AdGuard and chrome, don't have this problem on other sites.

Thats not an ad, its an overlay. That overlay is no longer visible.

Well, technically yes. I was referring to the popup ad vs overlay explanation, but we're both right on both counts.

I dont follow. Is there an issue relating to the Amazon ad still when going to active topics? Since the Prime day is over this isnt seen anymore.

It's not doing what it did the other day. I see the ads, but it's not doing what it did before, so something is fixed... thanks to whoever fixed it.

You should no longer see the Amazon overlay as that has reported up when it bugged out and was removed. As for the other ads, are you seeing popups? Usually things like "Your phone is 52% broken, click here to fix it" or something along those lines?

I don't use the phone for this, I'm on a mac. Haven't had any issues since that one day... glad to hear it was some fluke.
