It feels good to be appreciated! Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. That is why I joined just after September 11, 2001. Thanks to all others who have served and never forget the sacrifice that millions of Americans have made to protect our freedoms.

In 1915 T. Roosevelt said, in a speech to the KofC, "There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. "

I never was in the military, but often I wish I had had the opportunity. I respect all that serve. Gob bless you.

It will be 3 years for me this monday (25th), wow already halfway through my enlistment. I still am having trouble determining which is more fun though, riding my 919 or crewing a Blackhawk doing 140kn on the treetops. hmmm...

"I never loved the soldier, until there was a war. Never thought about tomorrow, until tomorrow wasn't sure." - Anonymous.

Something that I try to do whenever I get the chance of seeing a veteran license plate/stickers/person with a hat/or just plain someone in uniform. Walk up to them and just simply say 'Thank You' it will make your day and theirs.

Spent 8 years ('88-'96) in the Ohio Air National Guard. I was a crew chief on a KC-135 air refueling tanker. My dad was in the same unit, so he got sent to the Gulf in '91 and I got activated here to prep and launch airplanes to go to Desert Sheild & Desert Storm. It might seem crazy, but the one thing I miss is that smell of jet exhaust as you marshall that big bastard out of its parking spot and send it on to the taxiway.

Kudos to all the military folks out there serving right now. It's so easy to take your sacrifice for granted and forget what you're giving up to keep us safe.

I do believe that there are far more veterans here than have spoken; And to you, the silent soldiers, I salute. Thank you!
