Server Upgrade Time

In response to the generous donations made by a few members lately I'm going to get us a little bump.
I just signed for a new server. Sometime next week we'll start moving things around, there will be downtime but it wont be too bad.

In technospeak we're more than doubling our processing power & speed, moving to twin SCSI harddrives that spin much faster than current and doubling our RAM.

If the current server could be compared to a Ferrari, the new server could be compared to a Saturn 5 rocket.

Thank you for the donations you've sent so far.
Soon it will pay off.

Thanks but i don't manage jack when it comes to servers. I shop for the best value from a rack provider I've used for years.
no way I'm trying to organize power, rack and bandwidth myself. It'd cost me way too much money. Appreciate the thought though.

up in the navbar between FAQ and the Members List.

it's a bit quirky. you just enter a dollar amount and tap your enter key. it adds shipping and handling to your donation.
I know, I know... goofy paypal code.

I meant to ask about the shipping and handling...does it just add that to the donation, so all the money gets to you?

yes, it all comes to the same place. paypal code assigns a shipping amount based on dollar amount processed. It's not working perfectly but it's the lesser of two evils. Otherwise everything we shipped would have jacked up shipping & handling rates. Thanks!!

Thanks Jet for fixing the $ button. I "tested it"!

Are there options on the new server for spelling and grammer checks?

Thanks again for hosting this wonderful site!

Jet, It's my pleasure to help out!

Please don't spend bucks on my request. If you can just throw a switch great, but those features shouldn't redline your budget. It's a fun challenge deciphering the third world posts.

Damhik, now RC90 will be along since the word "skin" has shown up in this post.

that's odd. I'm not seeing what you're seeing even through the test account in either IE or Firefox.
I did fix 3 images for the "simple" skin but "silver" appears fine. Can you see if there's still a problem and maybe post a picture of the screen?

Will do. I'll give a heads up before we make the move. It will be down for a while during backup and dns redirect. Maybe a day or 2 for some people.
