Ads

I paid my dues some time ago to eliminate ads (e.g. before the sale to the new owner.) Today I've been inundated with annoying video ads playing over the top of my music. What gives?

You using a mobile app?

Which one, Wristtwisters? or motorcycle.com?

FYI, they don't support the WT one anymore, as it's owned by motorcycle.com.

I had to install a flash blocker plugin on FireFox. I kept having the same problem. It seems like few things have gone to shit since we got sold to motorcycle.com.

I use Adblock on my laptop and never see a single ad on W/T or most any other site.

I dropped Adaway on my S3 and replaced it with the MinMinGuard xposed module. MinMinGuard is supposed to improve battery life over Adaway because it doesn't have to run a VPN service to redirect the ad requests.

VPN to redirect ad service?

I prefer the ultimate hosts file for that type of trickery, meaning the known add hosts are directed to your machine for ad requests. Since none are there, you basically get a 'page could not display' for those frames.

I was bitching because I paid for something (lack of ads) and was not getting the service. However I don't see them today?

all adawy does is replace the hosts file.... i use the ultimate hosts file as a source on XDA... no module no thing running constantly... just a big text file.

You're account is set up correctly as a contributor of the forum. If you see the video ad again pleas grab a screenshot the the URL and we will have it blocked from the forum. You said that you did not see it aain after that. Are you seeing any other ads that should not be there?

Sorry for the late response. Everything has been as it should be. Probably just a glitch in the matrix.

I use adblock and flashblock, that way any flash pops that show are indicated by a flash arrow on the screen, and there are certain websites I have approved flash on, like youtube. Pretty much anything else I run completely blocked. I would disable all the flash and would use HTML5 on youtube but unfortunately it streams slow as hell on most any ytube vids, so for nor flash still has a place in my daily pc endeavors.
