What Would You Have Done: Lane Merging Edition

Quote:
As motorcyclists, we’re all too familiar with car drivers merging into our lanes, seemingly blind to the fact we’re occupying the lane they are trying to merge into. But what’s proper etiquette when a two-lane road turns into one? Which order should vehicles in a double-file line let each other into a single-file line? Whatever your answer, it’s probably not what this woman was thinking as she comes from behind this motorcyclist and co-occupies the lane he’s in. He then gets upset, honks the horn a few times, gives the driver a quick lesson in merging, calls her a choice expletive then rides on.

Normally that’s where a story like this would end. Instead, he spots a police officer up ahead, flags him down, and sticks him on the car driver.

This happens daily. Dumbass people not paying attention, not looking, talking/texting on their phones....

Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.

Whoever is further in front has right of way as a general rule. You are responsible for the person in front of you. I.e., if you rear end someone it's automatically your fault in most situations.

I know I'll get flamed for this but...
IMO that rider failed to TAKE the spot behind the truck when it was wide open, giving the bitch the opportunity to cut him off. Then when she does zoom forward he suddenly wanted to fight for it and cry victim. Boo hoo. Somebody call the Waambulance.
If you're going to LET them cut you off you might as well just tuck in behind before you create a road rage incident and get yourself hurt.
That vid should about situational awareness, knowing the car is there, and either taking your spot when you have the chance or laying up and tucking in behind.
He was expecting it to be given to him, while the proper / polite thing for the car to do, is not the correct mindset. Wake up Squidward!

This happens all the time! We as the smaller vehicles have to anticipate bad drivers. your rights and laws don"t work when your in a hospital bed, or dead. we can't disprove the laws of physics. screaming at the driver only make the public who is already annoyed by motorcycles worse. Figure it out bro, don't expect the car to see you and look further than your fork.

What a dipshit! Instead of recognizing and avoiding the situation he forces it and goes toe to toe with a car...idiot

As the video starts the light has just turned green and he's pulling away and then spends so much time behind that truck! I don't know, but if it was me I probably would have been past that truck and in front before I got through the intersection.

Don't expect the other driver to have a brain.

I would just let the car in and called it a day. If bitched and moaned about every maniac on the road I'd never get anywhere. This guy made a big deal of nothing.
