A sad day in oregon....

Today a friend of mine was lost to the Columbia river, he was fishing with some friends when his young son fell over the side of the boat, my friend jumped in to rescue his son and he was able to push the boy close enough to the boat that the other fishing partners could grab the boy, but the but the current was to strong and fast for his father to make it back to the boat and he was swept under...they just recovered my friends body an hour ago....
Yes today Oregon lost a good man, friend and a devoted loving father...

~~ Brant you will be missed~~

I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope that boy will grow up understanding and loving what a sacrifice his father paid for him.

My prayers go out to the family.

Very selfless and heroic act to save his son. I'm sure he would do it again if he could do it over.

RIP Brant and condolences to you and all his friends and family

Im very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, and his family's loss as well.

...but that is truly a man's death! You should be proud for the sacrifice he made!

i'm very sorry for your loss as well. having swam in the columbia river myself, it requires a very healthy amount of respect. its fortunate that the son even survived at all depending on where the fishing took place, and i have a feeling i know where.

its always the good people this happens to. why cant we just have the criminals and white color crooks be the ones that go overboard and drown?

Ur right, at times the river can be very misleading, even when it looks calm the currents are very strong, I'm in clatskanie and over the years the jones beach/Wallace/willow grove areas have claimed many people, this father loved his little boy enough to die for him and will forever be a hero and never forgotten....

Brant's last act on Earth doesn't get any nobler than that. It is with all good Fathers that they trade their own life for their child's and your good friend did just that.

My deepest condolences to his family and to you, his friends.

I hope you can be there to help his little boy out when he has questions and feelings over this monumental loss. He's going to need to feel the love from both family AND Dad's great friends.

Godspeed, Brant.

A very good man has died young.

Our society cannot stand the loss of such people for we all loose a little bit of virtue because of it.

Rest in Peace, Brant. Look over your family and protect them.

Whip, Disregard my PM, amigo. I called up the branch in Brant's hometown and they are setting it up with another local branch here in Santa Barbara making sure that I won't have any problem with a donation.
