Taking a look at how involved an operation taking the tins off is and freshening up the paint on my '03...

Can I just say: Those allen-head screws that hold the tank on the sliding hinge are a real bitch!

Use an impact wrench (manual, not pneumatic) it makes it much easier

I stripped the head off one of mine, and had to cut off (real carefully) two of the edges so I could use a regular wrench on it to get more torque. It was on WAY too tight, and that was brand new.

I've noticed that the combination of Honda using shallow headed allan head capscrews in soft material is less than ideal for overly tight fasteners or repeated R & R. A tip is to square off your allen key. All of them have rounded edges, and if the key is being used in a shallow head, then there is not much engagement area between the key and the head. If you round out a head trying to get it out, and it's still tight in place, sometimes squaring off the key and using a bit of thin shim stock such that the key needs to be tapped in, will let you get the fastener loosened. Things like chewed up front fender fasteners being reinstalled when no new spares are handy, can be salvaged by tapping down the extruded metal, and then lightly snugging them up, but replacement is the real solution.
