Steering damper removal...
...for reasons quickly obvious.
I imported this at great expense [not] from Thailand via ebay and put it on the bike as my first "mod" adventure when I first got it 3 yrs ago or so, before fitting new tyres and making some spring and fluid adjustments to the front end to cure some bump-induced weirdness.
Because the damper was in place I just left it there, until a loading imbalance [too much weight too high] caused my bike to topple off its sidestand a couple of days ago. I was 500km away from home and somewhat pre-occupied with getting the fractured Buell footpeg fixed, so I didn't really have a good look at the other parts on the lefthand side till later.
Spotted the bends, as you would, and removed the damper for the ride home, and really didn't miss it at all. Actually, the bike tipped into corners much better without it, so I won't be troubling the Laytona damper people again.
And I'll be loading with some saddlebags next time, to better distribute the touring weight.
