starter clutch moved

anyone ever open up the stator cover to do some work and then the starter clutch moves?

Its a sprag clutch. No reason compression wouldn't be able to move it from my prospective. Removing the side cover may have released some pressure that was holding things in place.

#4 is the sprag, but yeah the starter reduction gear should be able to turn 1 way freely. It can be driven the other direction by the stator/sprag assembly.
