Stalling at lower RPMs and stops

A few weeks ago I got what I thought was bad gas. I was riding all day and the bike was fine;
I filled up and came straight home. The next time I went out I started having issues. The bike
would be very sluggish at any RPM and would die if I was coming to a stop.

I changed the gas and the spark plugs. The engine still wasn't operating normally after these
changes, but it was close. I burned through the fresh tank and I could still feel some something
amiss in the lower rev range -- the engine felt like it would lurch for an instant and in the next
instant be right back running fine; less pronounced than stalling.

During this period I also had a FI error code 8 (Throttle Position Sensor) which I ignored for the
time as the bike seemed to be running somewhat reasonable. I rode yesterday with minor
issues; the less pronounced stalling was still there in the lower rev ranges, but nothing too

I then came back and evaluated the TPS -- I disconnected it, brushed it out and reconnected it.
The error was now cleared. I went out to test again this morning and couldn't make it to the end
of the street; I had major stalling in the lower revs, and instantly dies if rolling off to come to a
stop. The bike still rides fine at high RPMs and the FI light remains off/cleared at this point.

Have you checked your battery and it's connections? If it's not that it could be the TPS or fuel pump. Possibly a pinched line under the tank or a clogged injector. Check the easy stuff first. Do you have the service manual? It will show you how to test things.

I went through and checked the connections again, everything was alright. I tried starting it and the same symptoms occurred.
On a what if, I disconnected the cable to the TPS and tried starting it. It started fine, and it didn't show signs of stalling. I
put the seat on and took it up the road with the cable disconnected and the rev range was tolerable with no signs of
stalling; up-shifting was a bit off though. The error light came back on when reconnected -- 8 blinks. I guess I'll have to pick up a multimeter
and verify if it's the sensor.
