powdercoating costs?

Okay, I'm finally ready to get the wheels done for my SV project, and wanted to get a ballpark idea of what powdercoating them should run me. I'd like to have an idea of what's reasonable when I go to get a quote.

Thanks!

It shouldn't be more than...200 for the both of them. I've had wheels powder coated at about 75 each. It shouldn't go higher than 100 each though..

Including prep? I don't have the old finish stripped.

Appreciate the feedback.

My guy cost $50 a wheel. I chem strip the old finish and he works out of a shop at his house for cash, he works full-time and just does the powder coating on the side.

There is a local bike forum that I am part of. A member there suggested to me this guy who did powdercoat. He charged me $40 a wheel and included sandblasting and prep.

A guy I work with does powder coating on the side and we were actually discussing powder coating wheels this morning. He powder coats mostly bicycle frames, but has done a little bit of everything... He was saying he charges about $75 a wheel for car rims, I'm not sure if that includes prep. I sit right next to him at work... I'm sure I could weedle him down a bit if I do the prep work myself, but I'm not sure what I would want powder coated on the VFR.

Thanks all. I can't find it quite as cheap here, but with your input I knew to keep calling. I may still try to whittle them down a little when I actually bring the parts in.

One question for Helimech: Did you remove the oil locks from yourF4i lowers when you had them done? If so, I could use a clue on how to get them out!

Got 'em out. Didn't want to subject the O-rings to the oven.
