Find some safety wire, it'll work in a pinch but is not a permanent solution.

if you love your motorcycle, set it free.. if it comes back and hits you.. you highsided

If you still have the Master Link and are just missing the clip(chain is intact). Maybe some small circlips at the local hardware/autoparts store; one for each pin. This might get you to the nearest m/c shop. if you are missing the siderplate or more, your going to need a whole new master link setup.

I still have a master link just no plates. Its a 520 chain. I might try wire with silicon over it. No shops are open. Ill try to find a hardware store.

It might but take it easy. Maybe to a flatbed that can get you a tow home or to where you are going.

That looks like it might hold as a VERY TEMPORARY fix to get you to a place where you can stop.
The Ace hardwares around here carry an assortment of chain links & master links/clips. maybe you can find one that has some?

Let's hear it for press fit master link side plates! The only reason why you were looking for a clip and not a TIG welder to repair the engine cases.

Those clips will do as a stopgap, but should be replaced as soon as you can find another master link. I also recommend turning the link around so the clip is on the inside of the chain -- it runs very close to the frame side plate / footpeg mount if on the outside, and even a slight tap against it sends a standing wave through the clip, knocking it off a goodly percentage of the time. It happened to me several times on a very modified Kawasaki HI roadracer and reversing it cured the problem. It works just as well on my 919 -- over 50,000 miles on two clipped chains and nary a problem.

Rob

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

Insanity.
I'm with Mr. Tharlson, bigtime.
Use a riveted link.
As for the circlips you used in a pinch, I trust you installed them correctly, as in making absolutely sure that the sharp edged sides are facing out, so the sharp edged sides will see the load direction of greater concern.
You do not want the radiused sides facing outwards !

That looks awesome in a pinch! No shit. It looks like the clip tabs are well into the pin channel. Good to go a short distance!

Good enough for a timing chain, good enough in a pinch. Nice job!
