Klx 110 ticking

I dusted my son's bike off after being put up last fall. I put some fresh gas in it, with about 4 oz of Seafoam. The smoke looks to be the typical stuff from the Seafoam cleaning out the carb. I think I may have mixed it a bit rich. The bike kicks over fine and will run at idle rpm, but only when the throttle is cracked open. It still has plenty of power, but won't idle and ticks. Old gas, valves, rings???

How much Seafoam? just a few capfuls for that size of tank is sufficient. I usually deep clean the carb on my dirt bike every other year, depending on how rough it runs.

Somewhere around 4 oz or so. That's why I'm not too concerned about the smoke. Im mostly wondering about the ticking and the fact she won't idle on her own.

Sounds like you've got a plugged idle circuit/jet. How long has it been since you've cracked open the carb?

Ticking is most likely valve issues, which dirt bikes require checking every 100 hours or so. That might also explain loss of compression and why it won't idle, if your valve timing is off far enough.

Tackle the valves first if it's been a while, that will do the most damage to the bike if they are out of spec; hopefully, you're not getting piston slap.

Also, could be slack on the timing chain - have you adjusted the timing chain recently?
