honda cb1000 carb tubes

Hi,
I have a honda cb1000 1994.
It has 2 tubes coming of the carburetor that just hang out in air.
I am trying to find out what they do as they just sit on top of the air filter box, the mechanics book just calls them tubes.
I think they are the air pressure equalizers to the carb needle/pins but I am not sure.
Also I don't know why they were just not attached to the air filter to prevent contamination.

Those sound like either overflow tubes, vent tubes, or someone forgot to detach the synchro lines.

I may not have a lot to say but it doesn't mean I don't listen.
