Help! Gas Leak & Won't start

Hey Guys Picked up a white and blue 2007 Tuono just be for the snow hit here in the north east.

1) I filled her up to take her for one ride and about 2 min in to the ride I noticed gas coming out of the top of the tank.
I double checked and made sure I closed the lid correctly and that is when I noticed it was coming from under the cap !!!
has any one ever heard of this and any suggestions?

2) Aslo tried starting her Friday after being in storage and just got clicking so I threw the battery on a slow 12 volt 2 amp charge for about 2.5 hr
put the Battery back in and not even clicking BUUT I still have power to every thing and I hear some thing trying to start when I hit the start button?

1. You bought an Italian bike, it's supposed to have problems.
2. Sounds like the classic gas boiling due to engine heat problem. Check to see that you're not missing some sort of insulation or heat shielding on the bottom of the tank then check to make sure the tank venting system is clear and not plugged up with crud or insect nests.
3. Second what Wolf said - replace battery first.

I cut a couple of rings from a milk jug and used them to push the rubber gasket out a little better to make a better seal. In the thread, you can see Zaq suggests Tupperware; you could probably get away with a single ring using the thicker plastic.

Starter relay is a known issue as well. If you bridge the relay and it cranks, that's likely your issue. I understand that a weak battery exacerbates the issue, so you'll want to have the battery tested too, even if you find a problem with the relay.

Wolf, CB700S yeah your probably right But I got a great deal and still have my Niner. Plus the one ride I got to take on her before the season ended...Well lets just say its was a different smile than what my niner puts on my face

I am looking forward to riding her this season!

I will definitely check the venting and heat sheilding.

Lab Rat I will check it out Thank you Guys.

When I get around to it in the next month or so I will let you guys know how it goes.

Superdog Thank you that is good info. I was hoping to find out if there were some know issues. Is there a thread with other know issues I should be aware of? or other known issues you are aware of.

TSmith, check out my youtube channel, I have quite a few vids for the Tuono.

Gas cap ring leaking, weak battery, leaking stock coolant clamps (easy to replace), etc. are common small issues.
