HELP - 919 fuel pump question

Purchased a 2007 919 that has been sitting for quite some time. One owner bike. All stock with 1795 miles. Purchased the bike with the tank off the bike and sending unit in a bag. Owner told me it needed a battery and the fuel sending unit put back in the tank for it to run. Owner was not able to put back together because of health issues. Fuel pump on the sending unit by prior owner. I installed a new battery and all electrical works and bike turns over. Fuel injection light comes on. I plugged in the sending unit to verify it would work before putting back together. The pump will click once. Is the pump working?

HELP - 919 fuel pump question

I would recommend submerging the pump in gas before actuating it. When the key is turned you should here it pump for a couple seconds. Itís a noticeable whine.

The fuel pump was replaced by the prior owner.

Iím unsure of what sending unit you are referring to. Inside the tank you have the pump as well as the fuel filter.
