Fuel Light and Stalling

Okay, I am asking this question for my cousin who has an 02' 919.

His Fuel light is not working. Is this as simple as a bad bulb, if so is it hard to replace? Is there a bulb number by chance?

Also, when he is lower on fuel, when he has less than a 1 gallon of fuel, it will stall on him. Is this normal? I have never experienced this on my bike, so I was just wondering.

Thanks

I guess that this is not a very common problem, there has been no replies yet.

Is the fuel light bulb even replacable? Has anybody else had them burn out? I can't seem to find that online service manual that used to be on here.

Thanks in advanced for any insight or help.

Reserve Light Issue

I don't really know much about it, but I think the reserve (low) fuel light is not a bulb--it's an LED, so it's unlikely to be bad (LEDs don't burn out like bulbs do).

It's possible the problem may be a bad fuel reserve sensor, a bad fuel pump, or a fault in the wire harness. I've posted pages here from the shop manual that show how to check this ("Fuel Reserve Sensor, 19-18"). It appears to be a fairly simple procedure (HA! Famous last words . . .) Good Luck!

The stalling when low on fuel is kind of common, there are several threads about it. I've not heard of any burnt out low fuel lights.

Thanks for the help.

I figured that the Low Fuel light was an LED, but was not sure.

ThaddeusVenture - Thanks posting up that attachment, will look over it a little more later.
