FPR: STINK BE GONE!!

I've always had a hunch the FPR on my 9er was bad. But the abundance of people experiencing stink AND the fact that there wasn't any loss of power had me putting it off. As of recent though when I'm just under the power band tooling around traffic and needing to pass I've been noticing a hesitation when getting on the throttle hard.

After replacing the FPR <---LINK, the hesitation is no longer there and took the stink on a scale of 1 to 10 from an 11 down to a 3!!!! For a $50 part, it's damn well worth a try.

The FPR is located on the clutch side, just underneath the tank. It's a 30 minute job and anyone who's ever done an oil change is more than capable.

Congrats of the stink reduction. You may have to get a 3 wolf moon shirt to make up for the loss in animal attraction that the stink provided.Nice!

I might just have to do that Mike, LOL. Amazon.com: The Mountain Three Wolf Moon Short Sleeve Tee: Clothing

Check out the customer uploaded pictures and reviews:

"This review is from: The Mountain Three Wolf Moon Short Sleeve Tee (Apparel)
This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

That's amazingly awesome, and I love the photos if you go to the product page.

The first reply had this thread spiralling hopelessly out of control! I love it!

Andrew - glad there was a dramatic reduction in stink, and the hesitation is gone.

Thanks for the link to the sweet 3 wolf t-shirt!! I just ordered a couple of them!

What happens if one uses said T-shirt as a cleaning rag for their bike?

Will it instantly restore valve clearances, reduce stink, add 30HP and 20 mpg?

If so, I'm in!

Ok, a little more on track: Here's the two pics from that link edited with tips

Procedure: lift the tank by loosening the 10mm nut/bolt under the tank. It's not necessary but I took off the ground line to the frame and disconnected the 1st fuel injector plug for better access. You should see the FPR and two lines leading to it. Take the two 8mm bolts out and use a flathead screw-driver to wiggle out the vac line. Use pliers to squeeze together the clamp and slide back the line...read below for warning!

The green highlighted vac line is where to check if you have fuel going to where it shouldn't be. This will cause a rich 2&3 cylinder and a butt-load of stink. You can change it to a clear hose to see if fuel is making its way in, but even then you might only be leaking under load. Hard to do parked...

Second pic shows the part number and also circled the fuel line. I'm not like some of the members on here and had no clue what was waiting for me there (a golden shower!!!). Get ready to catch the fuel in a bottle or cap it quick. Have the replacement handy, wear gloves, and have towels handy.

There, now back to derailment

If only you'd been wearing your Three Wolf One Moon shirt, you'd have received a different kind of golden shower.
