Dan Kyle

I'm pretty much set to buy an Ohlins shock from him, but thinking back to the Ohlins I bought for my, 929 I'm reconsidering. Once I put the Ohlins on, I was never happy with my 929 again but too much of a newb to know why. I seriously don't think he revalves the shocks for your weight and riding style because I've spoken with him several times and seems like the type that anyone without AMA trophies doesn't have a effing clue about what their suspension is doing and won't notice a difference whether be re-valves it or not. Very snobby from MY personal experience.

Coming across this thread recently is not helping my confidence.

I'm sure LDH will chime in any time now.

The net has a habit of making one dissatisfied customer out of 100 look much more significant than it is.

There has not been anyone around here who put an Ohlins on his bike and didn't become a convert.

I've ordered from LDH/Dan Kyle and I've never had a problem. Stuff came on time and didn't have any hassles. Granted, I only bought a 520 chain and sprockets, but Dan actually called me back to confirm/correct my order.

Haven't heard of a single bad 919 Ohlin purchase from LDH. Maybe because they deal with the entire range of riders from other sites as opposed to WT which is a pretty tight group.

LDH actually went out of his way to meet me at the shop on Saturday morning so I could pick up my shock (they're closed on weekends) and instead of handing me a shock, taking my money and sending me on my way, he took the time to go over everything with me and spent time talking motorcycles and guns, A stand up guy in my book

I've had limited dealings with DK web sales going back some time.
My recollection is "timely, helpful and effective".
I have never seen a negative DK post on this site.
Few are neutral, in fact, all I remember are enthusiastic to some degree.
DK has done cross border work and supply for some Canadians.
Again, no negatives I can remember.
You worry far too much over a statistically insignificant single occurrence, where all sides truly are not known, and in retrospect, shipping out of USA area into Australia may have been a factor.
Instead, you should focus on what you are going to tell LDH and DK your intended use and skill level is so you can be best setup by what they select for you and suggest to you.

Look guys there are always 4 sides to every story. His story, the other guys story, the truth and the shit people want to believe.

I'm not even going to get into anything about this regardless of who is right or wrong especially from a thread 3 years old, but suffice it to say you cannot please everyone...

I do what I can for my fellow riders. I offer deals and insight into purchases that I know are honest and I hope valuable to those willing to spend their money. If that is not enough then I have no more to give. I make no commission and have never wanted anything less than for riders to be able to get the most out of their sportbike experience. That is the reason my websites exist. I've been accused of being a prick, way too curt in conversation and many other things. Am I guilty of those things? Probably, but you will never find anyone on any forum that will tell you I lied to them or mislead them in any way, shape, form or fashion.

I love this sport and I truly enjoy helping other riders which is why I spend so much of my spare time track instructing or offering advice on bike setup etc for free. I eat, breathe, bleed, live and shit sportbikes if that is not enough to be judged upon then I give up because I cannot offer anything else.

I will say this though in Dan's defense. You do not get to be the largest Ohlins dealer in the world by providing sub par service.

I really want an Ohlins to match my forks so I guess I'll go for it.

So I'm a little confused, is LDH associated with Dan Kyle? If so can you tune it for sport-touring before sending it out?

LDH correct me if I am wrong here but does Dan Kyle set up the new shock or does he merely convey the information that the buyer has provided him to Ohlins and then act as an a facilitator for placing the order to them, and then handling any intermediary/repair/rebuild for the units he sells (or is contacted to perform work on)?

Dan Kyle is the largest Ohlins dealer in the world, an Authorized Service Center, and has tons of inventory. He also does all the custom made 30mm NIX retrofit cartridge kits himself in his suspension and fully stocked machine shop complete with CNC machine and CNC lathe where he literally makes many of the custom parts needed for those kits.

If he does not have a specific Ohlins product it will be ordered or sometimes drop shipped from Ohlins, but most of the stuff he does himself and as you can see there is no shortage of inventory in his warehouse. There are still some custom applications that Ohlins will agree to do as well as they have access to more custom parts at their fingertips than Dan does.

That is awesome LDH. I had always seen references to his shop but just didn't ever know the scale. Cool stuff.

I've never met Dan, but my wife grew up in the area and went to his riding school in her younger days. She won't buy parts for her bike anywhere else, and they've always been pretty quick to answer questions when we have them.
