cb919 power dies at 5k rpm?

my hornet has started to play up at 5k rpm and only in first gear. It cuts the power spot on 5000rpm for about half a second and then surges back, the harder i'm acelerating the bigger the jolt, this makes for a nightmare getting away from lights or junctions. Has any one had a similar problem or know what the matter is?

nope ain't got a power commander instaled and it's always bang on 5000rpm and only in first gear. i.ve recently disabled the air box flap that seemed to ease it slightly, and there is a relitivly new air filter in as i thought it might be some thing to do with air flow but no luck as a cure.

Did this problem occur recently(perhaps after you or someone did work on the bike) or has it been that way since you bought the bike?
What year Hornet and what mods?

did it occur after installing the air filter? The air filter might be in backwards, but would explain why it is only at 5k in first.

When you disconnected the flapper you did plug the vac. line didn't you? I've been known to forget trivial little things like that then spend hours scratching my head.

919 losses power at 5k rpm

I disabled the flapper on the air box that has helped a little it has sofened the jolt a little. i have also put a new air filter on that has done nothing.

How ironic, because I started reading the original post and the replies, and was going to write "ask barton664, he would know!" and POOF!, there you are!

"barton664" translated means "919 God" (or sumpin like dat).
