Bad FPR?

Cleaning up the 9er tonight and on a whim I decided to pull out the laser thermometer. After letting the bike warm up for a few minutes I measured the temp on the header pipe first from the left was ~470 F the remaining three were 270 F.

W...T.....H....

I'm confused and a little scared for my precious Betty (my bike) is my FPR going? I dont have too much stink or black smoke when I gun the throttle, part of my plate has started to discolor but..... am I just freaking out or is there an underlying problem?

WHAT TO DO? CAN I RIDE TOMORROW??

I saw this yesterday and expected that more experienced mechanics would chime in...
Without any bike performance issues I would not be concerned but i would do this check again after the bike has been ridden several miles and is fully heated up.
IMO the 270 numbers are low for a header pipe. The 470 seems more reasonable depending on where the measurement was directed (aimed). The temp will drop quickly the further away from the head you make the check.
If the fpr is bad you will get fuel in the vacuum line - that's the check that makes sense for the fpr.
After checking several times i'd suggest pulling the plugs and checking them out if there continues to be a gross difference.

When my FPR went I got horrible gas mileage and exhaust popping. Easy to test. Pull the vacuum hose off thr fpr and turn the key. If gas come out the fpr it's bad.

When mine went out, it had black sooty smoke when I blipped the throttle, sooted the end of my Yoshi's and had terrible low-throttle performance. If you don't have any symptoms, I'd just run it.

Got mine at hondabike.com for around the same. They show it for $54.54. Takes a while to get parts to me though. Usually two weeks.

If you want it fast, Rocky Mountain ships same day. They have it in stock for $67.43 but if you buy $99 worth of stuff you get free 3-day shipping. The $99 can be OEM and aftermarket.

Oh also bike bandit gives a 10% discount to AMA member btw.

Membership is worth it for the roadside assistance I think
