Any benefit to a PCIII on a bone stock 919?

I have a new to me 2002, bone stock 919 and according to UPS there is a Power Commander III USB sitting on my doorstep to greet me when I get home. I ordered it after reading a few posts here that mentioned the PCIII as a *potential* solution to the stinky exhaust problem.

My girlfriend thinks the stink of unburnt fuel is sexy, but I can't ride my bike the 3 miles to work, because my tiny office with poor ventilation makes for a rough day, olfactorraly speaking.

Before I take it out of the box, besides the *potential* for reducing the stink, are there any other benefits, at all, to using a PCIII on a completely stock '02 919 with 8500 miles? (it had 7700 when I bought it 14 days ago, heheh.)

"Driveability" is better.
Should be less stink (what fuel do you use ? regular has less stink factor stuff in it as a rule)
As long as you have a good map in it.
Try the two in the drop box done by LDH named mw9192stk.djm and mw9193stk.djm both of which were done during his August 2002 mapping development. I think that 3 was his final evolution, but I could be wrong and if he knows of a better one he'll pipe in.

Thank you, I am searching all forums for "dropbox link" but no links are active, I must not be searching the correct terms to find it for myself?

EDIT found it, in the 919 helpful info thread

No map will reduce the stink enough to make the PC3 a good investment (if that is the reason to buy). I tried and tweaked several maps and the difference is barely noticeable.

Ok, I'll be that guy. If you decide you don't want the PCIII let me know, I'd be interested in takeing off your hands.

The one bad thing about the centre high mounting is how it stinks up the clothes.
REALLY nasty in slow or dead traffic with a wee tailwind.

The answer is...

Heck yes there's a benefit!

The 919's throttle response feels a lot smoother, just using the stock 919 map that came with the PCIII... Installed last night and went for a test ride.

I don't have much other motorcycle experience to have a baseline to judge the 919 against... so I didn't think it was all that un-smooth... and it's not, but the PCIII did smooth things out in a way that even I noticed... and I was skeptical!

I will try LDH's maps next...
