I love the sound of my TRSs, and why anyone would do a PAIR block off to get rid of the delicious sounding random lean misfires under engine braking is beyond me.

I don't get it as much of that as I did on my RC...I loved it.

I didn't think it was lean misfire...or maybe I'm just not understanding the wording. Isn't it just leftover-combusting within the pipe?

Yes, late and incomplete combustion due to proper combustion not being able to be initiated and maintained because of the wonky F I ratio and disturbed gas flow from high revs, small throttle opening - reduced combustion chamber pumping pressure being caused, all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff. I was always told it was lean misfire, and the simple RPM X Throttle mapping co-ordinates supports that.
Rich tends to sound flat in terms of exhaust note.

I did the pairs mod and still have a random pop when engine braking. Although my exhaust is a little more extreme than slip-ons

The carbon yoshi's do look good though and kudos on the end caps.

I couldn't take it any longer. I finally ordered the parts to convert my yoshi's to the carbon fiber end caps.

Nice!! They do make them look badass.

P.S. Is there any special treatment for the Carbon fiber? Can/should I wax them??

Most of the loud sounds you hear popping and banging on aftermarket systems (on a well tuned bike) is due to a air leak in the system at the slip on join. A smear of a high temp sealant around this join when installing the system will eliminate it. Permatex Black does the trick.

I sealed up my Yoshis in this manner and on decel there is no popping and banging you get the lovely deceleration sound and the only sign of the PAIRS working is a background sound I can only describe as 'butterflies' it is more of a muted background fluttering. No need for block off plates at all.

A easy way to check your exhaust system is sealed is to have the bike idling and pop a rag in each hand and block each outlet - it if leaks you'll hear it fluffing out the leak.

Darn the CF outlets look smart.

I never thought about putting some permatex for a seal. I think I will try that. Thanks Allan.
